Mabel “Terry” Lee Seats went peacefully home to Heaven on February 15, 2019 at the age of 93. Terry is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, George Seats, her children, Jim (Dolly) Arbuckle, Bill (Jan) Gibbs, Roberta (Bob) Austin, Tami (Darryl) Huntley and Patrick (Margaret) Seats as well as her 27 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, brother-in-law Nick (Patsy) Seats and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her four sisters Louise, Phyllis, Joanne, Maxine and two brothers, William and Junior (James Earl Myers Jr.). Junior had died while serving in the Navy in World War 2. She was also preceded in death by her son Gene Arbuckle and his wife Lynn, daughter Kelly, nephew Ron Seats and grandson Mikey Baltzell.

Terry was born on September 3, 1925 in Jennings, Kansas and was the youngest child of James Earl and Mabel Edith Myers. On October 29, 1955, Terry married George Seats. Since then, Terry has lovingly and selflessly poured herself into raising her six children and then her numerous grand children and great grandchildren. Terry was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. She spent all of her time helping family and other people except when she would take a little personal time to “work her puzzles” in the daily newspaper. In her younger years, Terry spent most of her time camping at Walnut Grove and taking care of her children. As she aged, she was able to enjoy a lot of time with her grand children playing cards, going out to dinner and sharing her wisdom and humor with anyone she met. She had many hobbies including dancing, writing letters and probably her most favorite, playing cards. She also spent a lot of her nights at the auto race tracks around Indiana with George, every Wednesday night with her son Patrick and “her girls” and most of her weekends with at least one grand child spending the night. Terry was truly loved by all who knew her and will be immeasurably missed and always cherished.

Services for Terry will be held on Thursday, February 21st at her home church, Post Road Christian Church, at 1112 N. Post Road, Indianapolis, Indiana. Family visitation will be held at 9:30-10:30 am, family and friends at 10:30, the service at 11:30 and a mercy meal to follow.

Please feel free to send donations in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer’s Association in remembrance of Terry.

I am so sorry to hear of the death of Terry. The passing away of a loved one is always with much sorrow. May we have faith and confidence in the Bible’s promise of a time when pain, sickness and death are a thing of the past (Revelation 21:3, 4). My condolences are with the family at this difficult time.
